Recently, we got our hands on the Lego Technic set, 42060 Roadwork Crew. It features a truck, trailer and digger. Such a set is expected to appeal to the younger generation who favour playability above all else.
Box
Nothing much about this box. It has its typical design with the 40 years celebration on it. The size is also stated on this box, which is 27 cm, much more than I expected looking at its scale.
The back of the box demonstrates the alternative model, a truck with a plough.
The Completed Model
Truck
The truck is of a solid rather than skeletal design and is rather stable. It also has a compact steering system which allows it to turn left and right to a small degree.
It also features a tipper designed to store a load. Unfortunately, no load was provided (for such a small set, this is expected) for the tipper to tip over and unload.
The tipper is controlled by a grey axle joiner on the left side. A shovel and a broom are provided for the invisible driver.
Trailer
The trailer possesses a simple three-beam design to hold the digger.
The 40-years commemorative 3-hole beam is also featured on the underside of the trailer and is a stable and sound design.
It is connected to the truck with a connector peg.
Digger
The digger is of a compact design and features a new worm gear design and 46-piece tracks.
Turning the gear at the back controls the angle of the arm by moving it up and down. The light grey axle joiner controls the lower end of the arm.
The shovel piece is adjusted with the fric stump for it to scoop items up.
Verdict
I have no complaints about the design and appeal of this set. This set was obviously designed for consumers with kids in mind. I spent a large amount of time just moving the truck about, and as a kid I enjoyed playing with this set. It provides the consumers with huge playability. For its low price, it is definitely a bargain for Lego-loving kids with budgets in mind.
